How we judge innovation (WIP)
All entries are reviewed by an independent panel of expert judges. Each submission is evaluated across four core criteria, weighted to reflect their relative importance to excellence in consumer technology.
Our judges prioritize products that push technical boundaries, challenge market expectations, and deliver a tangible impact on the consumer landscape. Because judges evaluate submissions based on provided materials rather than physical testing, we look for transparency, clarity, and documented proof of performance.
Innovation & Originality
We prioritize products and technologies that meaningfully advance their category. This includes genuinely new concepts, significant improvements on existing solutions, or a fresh, disruptive approach to a familiar problem.
Technical Sophistication & Quality
Since products cannot be tested in person, judges look for evidence of engineering excellence. This includes build quality, technical specifications, and proof that the technology is a robust, functional solution rather than a conceptual prototype.
User Experience & Design
Great technology must be intuitive. Judges consider how thoughtfully a product has been built for its primary audience, evaluating everything from the interface and physical interaction to overall design aesthetics.
Real-world Impact & Viability
Innovation is most valuable when it solves a real-world problem. Judges look for a credible use case and evidence that the product has a realistic path toward market success and long-term application.
Fair & Transparent Scoring
To ensure consistency across all categories, scores are normalized across judging panels. This accounts for natural variation in individual scoring and ensures every entry is evaluated on equal footing.
The 60-Second Rule: Think of your initial summary as an elevator pitch. You have a limited window to capture the judges' attention and clearly define the problem you are solving.
Back It Up: Once you’ve made that first impression, your submission must back those claims with clear, technical evidence. Since judges cannot interact with your product in person, your documentation must bridge the gap between "concept" and "reality."
Be Accessible: Present your information as if you are speaking to an audience unfamiliar with your brand. Avoid internal jargon.
Prioritize Visual Proof: We highly encourage the use of videos, demos, and images. A 2-minute video of the product in action is often more valuable than a five-page PDF.
Language: All entries must be provided in English. Supporting documentation in other languages is not recommended.
